Police Rescue Kidnapped Israeli Engineer in Taraba

The Taraba State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and local hunters, successfully rescued Gil Itamar, an Israeli engineer, who was kidnapped on Thursday in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Itamar, an employee of SCC company, was abducted by armed men in the Atim Community along the Takum/Chanchangi Road. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP James Lashen, the authorities were informed of the incident at around 10:30 am and immediately launched a coordinated rescue operation.

The PPRO explained, “At about 9:15 am on April 3, 2025, Mr. Gil Itamar, an Israeli national and staff of SCC company, was kidnapped by armed hoodlums while being escorted by the military in the Atim Community along Takum/Chanchangi road. Upon receiving the distress call, the DPO of Takum Division mobilized his team, with personnel from the 67 PMF, the military, and local hunters.”

The operation led security operatives to Kofai Ahmadu, where they engaged in a fierce gun battle with the kidnappers. After the clash, the kidnappers fled, and the victim was successfully rescued.

Itamar is currently receiving medical attention at SCC company’s medical facility in Takum. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt for the criminals involved, with the aim of apprehending them and bringing them to justice.
