FCTA Achieves 95% Implementation of 2024 Budget
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that his administration has achieved an unprecedented 90% to 95% implementation of the 2024 FCT budget. According to Wike, this milestone is the highest level of budget implementation ever achieved in the territory.
Wike made the disclosure on Monday during a media briefing following his inspection of several major ongoing projects in the FCT, which are set to be commissioned during President Bola Tinubu’s second-year anniversary in office.
He highlighted that the 2025 FCT budget has already been submitted to the National Assembly, which is scheduled to reconvene on April 25, but assured that this would not hinder the completion of the current projects.
“These projects are part of the 2024 budget, which has been extended until the end of June. We are operating within the legal boundaries,” Wike explained.
He clarified that the funding for the ongoing projects is derived from the FCT’s Statutory Budget, not the national annual budget, and the majority of this work has already been covered under the approved budget.
“The Statutory Budget of the FCT has already been approved and forwarded to the President,” he added.
Wike also provided an update on the ongoing renovations at the International Conference Centre (ICC), praising the contractors for their excellent work and performance.
“The contractors handling these projects have met expectations, and we are ensuring prompt payments to avoid delays. The quality of work is impressive, and I am delighted with the progress at the National Conference Centre,” Wike said, expressing confidence that the facility would soon return to its intended grandeur.
“Those who remember how it was will be amazed at the transformation,” he concluded.
