NLC Shuts Down Ministry of Mines and Steel Over Unlawful Dismissal

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday morning stormed the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development in Abuja, effectively shutting down operations in protest.

The demonstration was sparked by the ministry’s failure to comply with a court ruling ordering the reinstatement of Comrade Victor Ekpaha, a staff member who was unlawfully dismissed two decades ago.

According to the NLC, the court had ruled in Ekpaha’s favor, mandating his full reinstatement. However, despite the judgment, the ministry has not taken action. The union is now demanding the immediate payment of all outstanding salaries, allowances, and benefits owed to Ekpaha over the past 20 years.
